I wandered partway around Ponkapoag pond yesterday and spotted two new dragonflies. The more interesting one was a male Elfin Skimmer Nannothemis bella. It was hanging out along the boardwalk in the swamp. It's the smallest dragonfly in North America, and was maybe 2 inches long. I expect to run out of dragonflies some time this week, but no promises.
