Not Dead, not even close

I spent November finishing NaNoWriMo, and kind of put off everything else. I'm also in the holiday schedule at work, and it being retail suddenly have more shifts then normal, most of them being nights ending around midnight. I'll be freer in January, so may be missing for a bit of December as well.

Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly

Sometimes having ridiculous quantities of bee balm comes in handy. This swallowtail just fluttered back and forth for quite some time.

Cairn's Birdwind Butterfly

My mother's favorite. They have very pretty green stripes on a black background on the top of their wings, but they rarely sit still with the wings folded. This one's a male, the females aren't quite as nicely patterned.

My new favorite butterfly. This is the first one I've seen, and I've been to Magic Wings three times.

Even though I have the id sheet from Magic Wings I couldn't figure this guy out. I guess it traditionally rests with wings open? Maybe I'll just do a week of butterflies.

I only took 400 plus pics at Magic Wings. I guess I could just keep posting butterfly pictures until Spring actually arrives.

I had a decadent Sunday hanging out in a nice warm greenhouse chasing butterflies. Too bad it takes almost two hours to get to and another 2 to get home from or I'd do it more often.

Butterflies Can Be Creepy

Butterflies don't look very pretty when you get as close as I like to get. Mostly hairy and scaly. Maybe I should zoom out a bit, but personally I like the details.

Yesterday I went to the Day in Pompeii exhibit at the Museum of Science in Boston. Since our membership will be expiring at the end of the month I went to the butterfly exhibit one more time as well. The one above wasn't well labeled, as all the labeling sheets only showed the butterflies with spread wings and this one refused to open up.

I spent all day ripping up my kitchen walls. It had fake wood paneling and a pretend chair rail around the room. I removed the paneling and rail, and intend to paint it all. If I have to I'll install a new rail to hide the paint lines where the old and new meet. At the same time I am removing the awful stick on vinyl floor and trying to figure out if there are enough layers underneath to put down tile. Here's a butterfly, since my main computer is off due to my overzealous flicking of the electrical main so I could move an outlet in my kitchen. I keep forgetting to turn it back on.
