December Sunrise

Just a chilly sunrise in December. Even with dawn being only at 7 AM I've been missing it for a few weeks. It's just so freaking cold crawling out of bed that early is almost painful. Those weeks of extra warm weather in November messed me up good.

Vermont Clouds

From around this time in 2009. I'm just trying to keep my mind off the potential hurricane. Today I get top go to my cousins house and move all their loose outdoor stuff inside since they're in Florida. Then I get to do the same for myself later today and tomorrow. Lots of plants in pots to move, and assorted trashcans and lawn furniture.

Apocalypse Clouds

We've been having some strange weather in MA the last few weeks. It's either pouring or extremely hot. Tonight I spend a chunk of my time in the public library (free air conditioning and wifi). I decided it was time to leave when it started to get very dark early. I got outside and the clouds were unbelievable (and I cursed myself for not getting my camera before I went out), Dark gray and boiling across the sky at speed. By the time I got home the bright white line at the beginning of the clouds had almost vanished, and the lightning had arrived. This is a view across the street from my house. The only touch-up is setting the camera -2/3 of a stop to be able to see the gray details. The clouds really were that menacing. Then it poured off and on for a few hours.

I forgot about this until I cleared off my little point and shoot camera yesterday. Two weeks ago I drove up to New Hampshire and picked up my cousin. I'm actually going to do that again tomorrow. I also took a few cloud pics in a parking lot. I have to get back in the habit of dragging my little camera everywhere I go.

Sunrise at Daniel Webster

It would be so much easier to photograph at Daniel Webster if it wasn't 45 mins from my house. I got up at 4 am. The moon looked nice. I startled plenty of deer, up close even. I even spotted two mice. Chicory was just starting to open. The path reflected in this spider web. Two more opening chicory. There were only 4 or so rabbits. (I saw more on my later walk with one of the dogs.) And begging babies rounded out my walk. Then I walked a dog and crashed for 3 more hours of sleep...

Yes, that is a gas station. I stopped a bit early tonight; I'd rather have gotten past Madison, but it didn't happen today. I spent 3 days last week driving out to Minot with my parents for my sister's graduation ceremony from Grad School. After a few days visiting we're on our way home.

We had particularly violent short thunderstorms before sunset today. I went out after they were over and saw this... It was a little freaky. Above this thin patch of clear sky was the rest of they sky covered by gray sheet of clouds. The sunset was extremely bright with the western sky being so clear.
